Fotografie aus Polen ist generell nicht sehr bekannt in Deutschland, dabei hat sich in dem Land eine der spannendsten Fotoszenen Europas entwickelt. Das Buch zur Ausstellung polnischer Fotokunst im Berliner ZAK – Zentrum für Aktuelle Kunst in der Zitadelle Spandau will diese Wissenslücke schließen und zeigt Arbeiten von Künstlerinnen und Künstlern der jungen und mittleren Generation. Neben vielen Formen einer ästhetisch und formal frischen Dokumentarfotografie reicht das Spektrum des Gezeigten von der Porträt- und Selbstporträtfotografie über Stillleben und Landschaftsfotografie bis hin zu freien künstlerischen Ansätzen in der Abstraktion. Die Kuratoren haben auf der Grundlage weitreichender Recherchen und fundierter Kenntnisse solche Positionen ausgewählt, die einen Blick auf alle Aspekte zeitgenössischen Lebens in Polen ermöglichen und dabei auch die Schattenseiten nicht außen vor lassen.

Fotografia z Polski nie jest w Niemczech zbyt dobrze znana, a jednak kraj ten rozwinął jedną z najbardziej ekscytujących scen fotograficznych w Europie. Książka towarzysząca wystawie polskiej fotografii w berlińskim ZAK – Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej w Cytadeli Spandau ma na celu wypełnienie tej luki w wiedzy i prezentuje prace artystów młodszego i średniego pokolenia. Oprócz wielu form estetycznie i formalnie świeżej fotografii dokumentalnej, spektrum tego, co jest prezentowane, obejmuje fotografię portretową i autoportretową, fotografię martwej natury i krajobrazu, a także swobodne podejścia artystyczne w abstrakcji. Opierając się na szeroko zakrojonych badaniach i dogłębnej wiedzy, kuratorzy wybrali prace, które dają wgląd we wszystkie aspekty współczesnego życia w Polsce, a jednocześnie odnoszą się do jego mroczniejszych stron.
